Attracting, retaining, and servicing online customers is different from traditional customers, but both are based upon building relationships. Avon gives us great tools to grow and maintain an online customer base. We have email services, Avon Social (a social media platform to manage online content), and our own website to share with customers. Add great customer service to these great tools, and you can run a successful online Avon business.

Social Media

How many times a day do you check Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram? Probably a lot — and you are not alone. The power of social media lies in the fact that you can share information with a large audience very quickly. This especially works great for direct sales companies like Avon because we can easily share our favorite products with friends near and far. As long as you avoid spammy posts, you will attract new customers with your enthusiasm and love for the products. Plus, Avon offers unique videos and images that we can share too!

Right now, I currently leverage Facebook and Pinterest for my Avon business, but I’m looking to expand. Since Reps get a personalized website, it’s easy to spread the Avon love. I recommend getting comfortable with one or two social media platforms and grow your business from there.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is another effective way to grow your online business. You should always collect email addresses from potential customers especially if they received a catalog or samples. By doing this, you can follow-up with them and also add them to your Avon address book. Avon sends out daily emails to highlight special offers to those that subscribe. This is a great way to stay connected and build relationships!

Blogging

Well if I didn’t create my own website, you wouldn’t have found me! I started my blog back in 2018 as a way to showcase my favorite products. I enjoy writing, so this was a relatively easy start-up for me. Blogging is a great way to get your name out on the internet outside of social media. Once you learn about key words and search engines, you have an opportunity to reach many people. What an awesome and effective way to share your love for Avon!

Google Business

As I mentioned earlier, you want to learn about search engines and growing your online business beyond social media. I use Google Maps often and for many reasons, so I recently decided to list my Avon business. This is a fantastic way to connect with potential local customers!

Can You Make Money Selling Avon?

I get asked this question a lot and I’ll be straight to the point: the answer is yes! There is a variety of ways to be a successful Avon Rep and I’m going to share my experience with you. You may find that you’ll get different feedback from every Rep you talk to, and that’s really the beauty of the business! Being an Avon Rep means something different to each person, but with hardwork, determination, and passion for the products, you can make money selling Avon.

We frequently see posts on social media claiming that you can “get paid today!” and “make money while you sleep!”. Maybe there is an app or survey service that will help you make a quick buck, but for direct sales, these spammy posts are a turn-off. Yes you can make money in direct sales, but it’s so much more than a cheap trick. If you focus on building relationships, learning about the products, and sharing your knowledge, you can make money selling Avon. Social Selling With Avon

I absolutely love the phrase Social Selling. It’s becoming more and more popular for good reasons. Avon is a direct sales company that teaches its Reps the value of customer service and social selling. Well what is Social Selling? It’s very simply, the process of building and maintaining relationships, both online and in the real world, to be the foundation of your business. When you take the time to know your customers, they will take the time to know your business. When you value your customers, they will value your business. This may sound simple, but with any relationship, it only works with a serious commitment.

I use Social Selling in every aspect of my Avon business. First of all, I focus on sharing Avon products, not selling Avon products. What I mean by this, is that when I get a new accessory to demo or I’m excited to wear my favorite lipstick shade, I share it on social media. For example, I’ll post a picture of me wearing the new accessory while getting ready for date night. Instead of writing, “buy this necklace for $20!”, I’ll caption the photo with “the perfect accessory for date night!”. By doing this, I’m focusing on my excitement that the new piece brings to my night instead of focusing on sales. That excitement is contagious!

I also share samples of new products so that my close friends and customers can try them too! Sometimes I get my hands on extra demos, which means that my vip customers can try new products before they come out. These actions build relationships AND my business at the same time. By sharing my excitement through social media, samples, and conversations, I create a sense of community and a social buzz that continues to build.

Make Money Selling Avon – In Person Sales

Well now that you know how much I love Social Selling, let’s chat about making money! Sharing your excitement for products can generate both online and in-person sales. Let me share with you the best ways I’ve gained in-person sales. The more you wear Avon products, the more people notice. Take Avon everywhere you go and the conversations will start happening. Set up a table at a local vendor event and meet other local small business owners. Share samples and follow-up for feedback. All of these actions can result in in-person sales and create a successful Avon business.

If you choose to run your Avon business this way, then you will be responsible for collecting, placing, and delivering orders. We have a Rep-only website that we use to manage our business and place orders. You’ll make 20-50% commission and you will build a customer base by traditional face-to-face interactions. Primarily selling Avon this way is profitable, but it requires a larger time and resource commitment than selling online.

Make Money Selling Avon – Online Sales

You make the same commission percentages for online sales as you do for in-person sales, and the time/resource commitment is less. Online customers go to your personalized website to pay for and place their orders and Avon ships directly to them. You earn commission when the order ships and Avon direct deposits those earnings. It’s that easy!

Make Money Selling Avon – Leadership, Incentives, & Bonuses

In addition to making money by selling Avon products, you can also earn leadership earnings, special incentives (trips, products, etc), and bonuses. If you decide to build a team, you will earn a percentage of sales from your recruits. Avon values your mentoring and coaching by offering a generous leadership compensation plan. You also have the opportunity to participate in special incentives for exclusive vacations and hot products. If you excel at building a team, you will also earn bonuses as your team members promote to new titles. Overall, Avon offers a variety of income streams for your Avon business.

How To Become an Avon Representative

What’s It Like To Be An Avon Rep

If you are curious about becoming an Avon Representative, you are in the right place. Hi, I’m Danielle and I’ve been a Rep since 2015. I originally joined because I was a longtime customer and I loved the products. Every few months, I would place an online order (I didn’t have a personal connection to a Rep) to refill my favorite products. My mother and sisters like Avon as well, so occasionally they would add onto my order. On May 1st, 2015, I decided to become a Rep! I was excited to have easy access to my favorite products AND get a discount at the same time.

Well, the fun didn’t stop there. I quickly learned that I gained access to new products before they launch, special incentives that were coming our way, and of course, a sneak peek of the holiday collection! How exciting! My plan to get a personal discount quickly morphed into something more. I found joy in sharing my love for Avon, meeting new people, and stepping outside of my comfort zone. In the 3+ years that I’ve been a Rep, I’ve developed skills and behaviors that have made me a better person. Avon is so much more than beauty products. What’s It Like To Be A Rep?

Well first of all, it is fun! Avon launches 26 Campaigns a year – one every 2 weeks – that introduces new products and special deals. I’m sure you are thinking, “how do I keep up with catalogs that change that quickly!” Don’t worry, it’s easy! Besides new product launches, the bulk of the catalog doesn’t change every Campaign. Once you become familiar with the products and the layout of the catalog, you’ll be excited to get the new one every two weeks. I love that Avon frequently launches new products; I get excited every time a new Campaign begins!

As a Rep, you have the option to sell face-to-face, exclusively online, or a combination of both. Your choice! Avon offers a free customized estore that Reps can share with friends and family. Avon also offers a Rep-only website to place orders, take training classes, share social media content, and so much more. The opportunity to learn and improve your business is endless! The tools that Avon provides really give you a head start.

Here are the basics:

  • You purchase a kit to get started (just $30 and you get to pick a product bundle!)
  • There are no quotas! Sell as much or as little as you want. You just need to get or place an order (any size) once every 3 months to remain active
  • There are no website fees
  • You earn 40% on your first order and you can continue to do so by hitting various goals.  Once you are past the initial kickstart period, most Reps typically earn 20-40% commission
